Target Species
Rainbow Trout
The most abundant species on the Rim, rainbows are aggressive and acrobatic fighters that will test your skills on light tippet.
Brown Trout
Wily and selective, brown trout inhabit the deeper pools and undercut banks. Landing a big brown on a dry fly is a true trophy.
Brook Trout
Found in the coldest, highest-elevation streams, brook trout are strikingly beautiful and a bucket-list catch for many anglers.

Techniques We Use
Dry Fly Fishing
Rim Creek hatches include caddis, PMDs, and blue-winged olives. Matching the hatch with a well-presented dry fly is the most exciting way to fish these streams.
Nymphing
Euro-nymphing and indicator nymphing are highly effective year-round, especially in deeper runs and riffles where trout hold near the bottom.
Streamer Fishing
Swinging streamers through pools and runs triggers aggressive strikes from larger brown trout, especially in early morning and late evening.

What to Expect on the Water
Your guide will meet you at the designated trailhead or access point. Trip time begins at the scheduled meeting time and includes equipment setup, walking or hiking to the water, fishing, and returning to the vehicles. Half-day trips generally use shorter-access stretches to maximize fishing time, while full-day trips may include longer hikes to reach more remote water. Your guide will select the location based on fishing conditions and each guest’s mobility. All gear is provided — rods, reels, flies, and waders — or bring your own if you prefer. We practice strict catch-and-release on all wild fish to preserve these incredible fisheries for future generations.

Spring
March – May
Runoff can make some streams unfishable in early spring, but by late April the Rim is fishing beautifully. Nymphing is most productive.
Summer
June – August
Fishing can be productive, but rising water temps narrow your window — early mornings are your best bet before the heat sets in.
Fall
September – November
Fall is arguably the finest season on the Rim. Cooler temps, fewer crowds, spectacular foliage, and aggressive pre-winter feeding.
Winter
December – February
Winter fishing is for the dedicated angler. Midday midge hatches can produce excellent dry fly action on bluebird days.
