Guided Float-Tube Fly Fishing
Reach productive water beyond the shoreline during a private float-tube fly fishing trip designed for one angler. You and your guide use separate float tubes, allowing the guide to remain nearby while providing personalized instruction, selecting flies, adjusting depth and retrieves, and assisting with landing fish.

What to Expect
- Instruction is provided before entering the water
- Guests must safely enter and exit shallow water
- Guests propel their own float tube using fins
- Wader sizing and clothing requirements are confirmed before the trip
- Trips operate only when the guide determines that wind, weather and water conditions are suitable

Guided Raft Fly Fishing
Enjoy a comfortable, private stillwater fly-fishing experience for one or two anglers. Your guide handles rowing, boat positioning, rigging and fly selection while providing personalized instruction throughout the trip. This allows guests to focus on fishing while the guide adjusts location, depth and techniques as conditions change.

Target Species
Rainbow Trout
The most common trout across our featured Arizona stillwaters, with opportunities ranging from stocked fish to larger, more challenging rainbows depending on destination and season.
Brown Trout
Brown trout are present in JD Dam, adding another distinctive target to the Williams-area stillwater program.
Brook Trout
A brilliantly colored cold-water species found in Big Lake and Perkins Tank. Brook trout provide an especially distinctive target during the private Perkins Tank float-tube trip.
Cutthroat Trout
Found in Big Lake, cutthroat trout give anglers an opportunity to pursue one of Arizona's less-common stillwater trout species.
Tiger Trout
An aggressive hybrid found in Becker Lake, Woods Canyon Lake and Willow Springs Lake. Tiger trout often respond well to nymphs, streamers and leech patterns.
Arctic Grayling
Perkins Tank offers a rare Arizona opportunity to pursue Arctic grayling during a private float-tube trip. Grayling are recognized by their distinctive, sail-like dorsal fin.
Species availability and fishing opportunities vary by destination, water level, season and current conditions. No particular species or catch is guaranteed.
On the Water
Techniques We Use
Dry Fly & Emerger Fishing
When trout or grayling begin feeding near the surface, we use dry flies and emerger patterns to imitate the insects they are actively taking.
Indicator, Chironomid & Nymph Fishing
Chironomids and nymphs are suspended beneath an indicator at carefully selected depths, allowing us to target fish feeding throughout the water column.
Streamer & Leech Fishing
Streamers, leeches and baitfish patterns are retrieved along drop-offs, weed edges and underwater structure to locate and trigger active fish.

Spring
April–May
Variable AccessIce-out can bring hungry trout into shallower water and create excellent fishing opportunities. Access to higher-elevation lakes may remain limited by snow, ice or road conditions.
Summer
June–August
Early StartsHigh-elevation lakes provide productive summer opportunities, especially during cooler mornings. As water warms later in the day, we may adjust locations, depths and techniques.
Fall
September–November
Prime SeasonCooling water, active trout and lighter crowds make fall a premier stillwater season. Float-tube trips begin September 21, 2026, with limited raft trips available by request from October 17 through November 30.
Winter
December–March
Limited AvailabilityMany high-elevation lakes freeze or become inaccessible during winter. Any stillwater trips during this period are limited to open, safely accessible waters and suitable weather conditions.
